Our people

Jibreel W. Sarij

Chief Executive Officer, Jibreel W. Sarij originally led Acutis Diagnostics to the top tier of specialty clinical laboratories. 
Today Mr. Sarij has brought the company into the more sophisticated specialty of molecular diagnostics with the introduction
of Acutis Reveal™ respiratory and Reveal™ gastrointestinal tests for infectious diseases.
Sarij is a hands-on executive who takes pride working closely with members of the healthcare community,
while also engaged in issues that directly affect the health of the general public.

Trained as an engineer, he has an MBA from Columbia University.
Before taking the reins at Acutis, he worked at JPMorgan Chase, as well as
at a Silicon Valley–backed new media venture. Mr. Sarij has worked in over 10 countries.


Marjorie Bon Homme, PhD, DABCC

Chief Scientist and Laboratory Director, Dr. Marjorie Bon Homme earned a PhD in physiology and biophysics with fellowship studies in toxicology. She has held leadership roles in several healthcare organizations, including most recently at Bellevue Hospital
in New York City and at UCLA Medical Center

A native New Yorker, Dr. Bon Homme is a board member of Promoting Health in Haiti,
an organization dedicated to training highly skilled nurses at Center of Hope Orphanage.


Paul Han

Compliance Manager Paul Han earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting.
In only 3 years at the company, Mr. Han built a client success and billing support team composed of creative problem solvers solely dedicated to exceeding client expectations. Front end processes in this role helped Mr. Han see where compliance makes Acutis strong to protect both the clients and their patients, leading him to his current role as Compliance Manager.


Anthony Nolfo

Vice President of Sales, Anthony Nolfo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from
St. Thomas Aquinas College. He has over 12 years of sales experience, seven of which focused on
different specialties within the healthcare industry.
Mr. Nolfo runs a team of sales specialists who are willing, able and virtually on call. 


Daniela Zaborskis, PhD

Director of Operations and Senior Scientist, Dr. Daniela Zaborskis earned her PhD in toxicology and
has specialized in toxicology diagnostics for over 5 years. As a Teaching Fellow at St. John’s University,
she has taught both undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Zaborskis is highly committed to the delivery of superior patient care;
her mission is to ensure that from the point of entry to the lab to the delivery of the results,
our clients’ samples are processed with rigorous quality checks and speed.


Jonathan Dobyns, Lean Sensei, CSSGB

Director of Program Management & Technology, Jonathan Dobyns came to Acutis with 10 years laboratory experience,
including toxicology and pharmacy home healthcare, as well as 6 years of laboratory management experience.
Dobyns’ focus is on streamlining operations in areas of customer service and
production development, while fostering a culture of innovation.


Valentina Varricchio, CPA

Director of Finance and Accounting, Valentina Varricchio earned an MBA
from St. John’s University and is a New York State CPA. With over 12 years' experience in finance,
and over 5 years' experience in a director position. Ms. Varricchio has acquired an expertise in
helping companies achieve rapid growth through positive momentum.


David C. Goldberg

Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Goldberg is an accomplished industry professional who serves as both the Managing Director
of Acutis Biosciences as well as Chief Compliance Officer. He received an MBA in Finance from New York University and a Master
of Science Degree in Microbiology from Rutgers University. Among his numerous roles, Mr. Goldberg has developed compliance programs for both regional and national clinical laboratories and has served as Compliance Officer for public companies.
His broad experience in both technical and operational matters allows him to provide our compliance program
with a unique blend of leadership and expertise.


Mayilvahanan Shanmugam, PhD

Senior Scientist Mayilvahanan Shanmugam has for more than a decade conducted research in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology. Mayilvahanan was conferred a Co-Principal Investigator – NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grand Award (R21) 2018-2020. His post-doctoral work continued at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, and The Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.


Rudy Gadziala 

Senior Vice President of Managed Care Rudy Gadziala earned his Bachelor of Science degree
in health management from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Gadziala is responsible for managed care contracting and developing payer relationships throughout
the United States. Over the last 20 years, Mr. Gadziala has held various management positions with regional
and national health plans. Most recently he served as the Vice President of Managed Care and Payer Relations
for national clinical toxicology laboratory.


Abdel Halim, PharmD, MSc, PhD, DABCC, FAACC

Associate Director and Senior Advisor, Dr. Abdel Halim is one of only four scientists in the country to have the distinction
of being triple board certified. His certifications are in clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology.
Over 25 years, Dr. Halim has worked in translational medicine, biomarker discovery, and diagnostics.
Over that time, he has published over 65 peer-reviewed articles and conducted over 100 presentations.


Javon Barnwell, MBA

Human Resources Director Javon Barnwell earned his Bachelor of the Arts degree in Business Management
and his Masters of Business Administration & Global Learning from SUNY Empire State College.
Mr. Barnwell has served within the Healthcare industry for approximately 15 years.
Of that time, Mr. Barnwell spent 10 years in the Human Resources arena, managing the various functions of HR.
Over the years, Mr. Barnwell has developed a solid skillset with employee engagement and has proven success with organizational communication and culture transformation.  


Laura Pergola

Sales Operations Manager Laura Pergola comes to Acutis with over 20 years’ experience in the medical field,
with a focus on Durable Medical Equipment (DME). She has served as Director of Customer Service in sales operations, call center, sales administration and e-commerce order processing. Ms. Pergola has also lead system implementations, including S.A.P operation and SetLog supply chain systems. With extensive experience in team building, Ms. Pergola has created measurable standards by which customer satisfaction can be measured, honed and continuously improved.


Mumtaz Akhtar, MS

Senior Researcher Mumtaz Akhtar is a PhD candidate in toxicology at St. John’s University.
Mr. Akhtar’s focus on innovation and forward-thinking technologies pushes the team towards finding
the latest revolutionary processes to help best serve our clients and the patients they serve.
